Box Score 2 SENATOBIA – Northwest pounded out 21 hits and scored 18 runs in a doubleheader sweep over Southwest Tennessee on Tuesday by 14-7 and 4-1 finals.
Northwest improved to 6-2 with the wins, while the Saluqis fell to 5-9.
Sophomore
Jay King helped pace the Rangers' offensive attack by going 6-for-8 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs.
Kramer Hollenbach added four hits in addition to
Stephen Sexton and
James Lear with three.
In the opener, that trio went 10-for-15 with five RBIs and seven runs scored.
Northwest put the game away in its opening at-bat, scoring seven runs off six hits off Saluqi starter Corbin Carter.
Taylor King and
Hunter Austin both had two-run singles in the frame.
The lead ballooned to 11-2 after three after homers by King and Hollenbach.
Southwest scored a pair in the fourth and one in the fifth to pull within 11-5 before a three-run sixth for the Rangers, capped by Latham's two-run double to left field.
Cody Waddell (2-0) worked six innings, striking out seven and allowing just one earned run.
Ryan Seawright and
Tyler Scholl tossed the final three innings in a scheduled nine inning contest.
Making his first collegiate start in Game 2, freshman
Peter Barton tossed six innings of three-hit ball, striking out seven and allowing just one run.
Davis Brown picked up the game's final two outs for his first career save.
The teams exchanged single runs in the first before Northwest pulled ahead 2-1 in the fourth. Sexton led off the frame with a double and was singled home by
Tucker Smith for the eventual game-winning RBI.

Northwest travels to Arkansas Baptist (5-2) on Wednesday, Feb. 26 for a 4/7 p.m. doubleheader in Little Rock.
