Aspriona Gilbert and
Sara Lytle, Northwest rolled to a 90-70 win over Mid-South Thursday night in the Lady Rangers' 2014-15 home-opener at Howard Coliseum.
Northwest stayed unbeaten on the year at 3-0, winning its ninth game over Mid-South (1-2) in the past five years.
Northwest scored 18 of the game's first 21 points and led 49-25 at the half by holding Mid-South to 26 percent shooting and forcing 23 turnovers.
The Lady Rangers led by as many as 33 points with 14:08 to play before distributing valuable bench minutes.
Northwest shot 41 percent against Mid-South's 35 percent and outscored the Lady Greyhounds' bench by a vast 45-19 differential. Mid-South had 38 turnovers, leading to 41 points on the other end for the Lady Rangers.
Fourteen different Lady Rangers scored on the evening. Behind Gilbert and Lytle's 18,
Camia O'Neal scored 10 points and
Alyssia King,
Morgan Burroughs and
Kelsey Brown chipped in eight apiece.
Mid-South was led by Ivory Thornton with a game-high 19 points in addition to double-doubles from Kierra Adams (17 points, 15 rebs) and Dominique Dillard (14 points, 13 rebs).
Northwest will travel to Arkansas Baptist on Monday, Nov. 10. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
