Box Score SENATOBIA – Northwest held Coahoma scoreless the final 8:09 of the first half in building an 18-point lead and led from start to finish in a 67-44 rout of the Lady Tigers Thursday night at Howard Coliseum.
Northwest improved to 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the north and is now 16-3 in its last 19 home games. Coahoma remained winless in the league at 0-6 and 1-13 overall.
Leading 14-12 late in the first, Northwest outscored Coahoma 16-0 to end the period and led 30-12 at the break.
But the Lady Tigers came out determined in the second half and quickly cut what was an 18-point lead down to six, 33-27, with 13:26 remaining. Northwest missed 3-pointers on five consecutive possessions and Coahoma capitalized by drawing fouls and hitting free throws on the other end.
That's as close as Coahoma would get, however, after
Jacquelyn Brooks hit a bucket and
Anna Rosenbaum hit a 3-pointer to stretch the lead back to 11. Northwest would go on a 20-6 run the next 6:15 to put the game away.
Northwest shot just 36 percent for the game, but held Coahoma to 23 percent shooting.
Carshava Sutton posted her sixth double-double of the year with 20 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, while Brooks followed with a career-high 13 points and six rebounds and
Tenesha Woods had 10.
Halle Knowles had eight assists and seven points.
Ariel Jones led Coahoma with 15 points and 11 rebounds in addition to seven points and team-high 12 rebounds from Gabrielle Gilbert.
