LAKE CORMORANT – Senior catcher Heath Griffith of Lake Cormorant High School signed her national letter of intent on Friday to continue her softball career at Northwest Mississippi Community College.
"Heath is a great sign for us," first-year assistant coach
Carie Dever Boaz said. "She is an exceptional student-athlete that excels both in the classroom and on the field. She plays with a tremendous amount of passion and will add a lot of excitement to our team."
Griffith hit .466 her junior year with 14 doubles, seven triples and three home runs and also slugged .886 with a .494 on-base percentage. She's been named all-conference and an MAC All-Star as well as the team's most improved player three times.
"She is a wall behind the plate and can lead a battery throughout the game," Dever Boaz said. "She is also a tenacious batter and is clutch when the game is on the line."
Griffith is the fifth signee in the Northwest softball class of 2015.
