INDEPENDENCE – Northwest baseball picked up its fourth signee for the class of 2015 when shortstop LeeMarcus Boyd of Independence High School signed his national letter of intent on Thursday.
"LeeMarcus is a very athletic shortstop who could also see time on the mound as a relief pitcher," head coach
Mark Carson said. "He should be a really good player for us the next couple of years."
Boyd hit .424 his junior year for the Wildcats with a .542 slugging percentage and .514 on-base percentage.
The 5-foot-10, 155-pound senior is a four-time all-district player, joining his high school team as an 8th grader. He's also a two-time team MVP, two-time all-state selection and was an All-Tate County nod as a sophomore.
Boyd has been a part of four district championships under head coach Steve Chambliss.
