Itawamba Hands Northwest 109-102 OT Loss

Box Score SENATOBIA – Northwest drove the length of the floor with 3.4 seconds remaining and Rashon Coleman hit Aston Morton for a layup as time expired to force overtime where the Rangers fell 109-102 to visiting Itawamba. 

Itawamba now stands alone in first place in the north at 3-0 and 8-5 overall, while Northwest evened its season record to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in division play. 

Itawamba led by as many as 17 in the first half and led 48-33 at the break after shooting a stifling 59 percent. 

But Northwest slowly chipped away at the Indians' lead the opening 5:41 of the second half and got to within 55-54 as part of a 21-7 spurt. 

The Indians, however, led for all but 18 seconds of the second half and maintained a small lead. 

Johnathan McGee then hit the go-ahead layup with 3.4 ticks left after De'Sean Dockery tied the game on a pair of free throws, but Northwest then drove the length of the floor and Morton hit a layup as time expired.

In the extra period, Tristan Moore gave Northwest a 91-89 lead, but it was all Itawamba after that. McGee struck again with a pair of free throws and 3-pointer and scored eight points in the overtime frame as ICC outscored Northwest 20-13. 

Alex Anderson had a game-high 29 points for ICC, followed by 23 from McGee and 17 from Tyrone Wooten. 

Northwest was paced by Dockery's 21 points in addition to 20 from Dajon Reno, 15 from Tristan Moore and 12 points and 14 rebounds from Sharwyn McGee

ICC shot 54 percent for the game against 45 percent for Northwest. The teams also combined to connect on 21 3-pointers and 88 points in the paint. 

Northwest will return to action Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Mississippi Delta. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. in Moorhead.
