SENATOBIA – Sophomore outfielder
Vicki Johnson of Northwest will continue her softball career at Jackson State University, making her the first Ranger to sign at a four-year school since 2011.
"I'm excited to be able to continue my softball career," Johnson said. "I know they compete every year for the SWAC Championship, so I'm looking forward to helping the team make the Regionals."
A product of North Delta School, Johnson played in 78 career games (73 starts) in the outfield, hitting .343 with 12 doubles, five triples, a home run and 30 RBIs. She was also a perfect 12-for-12 in stolen bases and boasted a .401 on-base percentage.
Her name is scattered in the school record books in multiple career categories including triples (T-1st), runs scored (seventh), stolen bases (eighth), slugging percentage (ninth), hits (10th), batting average (10th) and total bases (10th).
Northwest went 57-25-1 overall in her two seasons and 33-15 in north division play.
Johnson officially signed her NLI on November 14, 2012.
