PULASKI, Tenn. – Northwest sophomore guard
Darius Woods of Walls has announced he will sign with first-year head coach Scott Combs and Martin Methodist College to play his final two seasons.
Woods is the lone Ranger to sign at a four-year school this offseason and the sixth in the last three years under former head coach Jimmy Adams.
Woods played in 45 career games in Senatobia and earned the start in 18 of those, averaging 7.7 points, 3.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds a contest. Woods also chipped in 64 career steals and a pair of blocked shots while shooting at a 40 percent clip from the floor and 73 percent from the charity stripe.
At the point guard position, Woods saw action in a career-high 23 games (eight starts) as a sophomore and became the first Ranger since 2008-09 to eclipse 100 assists in a season (106). He went on to play in the MACJC All-Star Game at season's end in Decatur.
Martin Methodist is a member of the NAIA and competes in the TranSouth Athletic Conference. The RedHawks are coming off an impressive 28-7 mark a season ago and second round berth in the Buffalo-Funds NAIA National Championship Tournament.
