COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sophomore forward
Domonique Harris of Northwest Mississippi CC has been named the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Player of the Week for games played Monday, Nov. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 18.
Harris, who was also named the MACJC/JUCO Weekly player of the week on Monday, is the first national POTW from Northwest since A.J. Cunningham back on Jan. 26, 2011.
Providing the Rangers with much more than a spark off the bench, Harris utilized his sixth-man role to showcase his talents last week. Harris averaged a double-double in three games with 20.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game and also added 10 assists, nine steals and four blocks.
The sophomore from Southaven displayed deadly accuracy from the field, knocking down 55.6 percent (25 of 45) of his field goal attempts. In a 97-85 victory over Copiah-Lincoln last Thursday, Harris enjoyed just the seventh 20-20 game in school history when he went for 33 points and 20 rebounds.
Northwest is 4-2 on the season and returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 29 against Coahoma.
