Hebert, Plummer Named Capital One Academic All-District

SENATOBIA – Sophomore middle infielders Linsey Hebert and Hillari Plummer of Northwest have been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Softball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The duo are the first-ever softball selections in the school's history and helped Northwest to a 30-12-1 season record – the third, 30-win season in six years.

A Batesville native, Hebert carried a 3.38 GPA in pre-forensic chemistry. A two-time MACJC All-North Division selection who started in 74 of 78 games at second base, Hebert ended her career first in stolen bases while ranking second in home runs, third in runs scored and sixth in hits and doubles. She was also solid on defense, committing just six errors in 291 career chances (.979).

Plummer, a product of Pope, carried a 3.40 GPA in elementary education. A two-time MACJC All-North Division and two-time MACJC All-State nod, Plummer ended her career with a stellar .404 lifetime batting average. The school's career-leader in hits (108) and runs scored (82), Plummer also ranks second in stolen bases (23) and third in walks (32) and is just one of two players in school history with 100 career hits (Candice Brasher, 103).

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve (at least 50 percent of the team's games) and completed one academic year with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

Both Hebert and Plummer are now eligible for Capital One Academic All-America team honors which will be announced on Monday, May 21.
