SENATOBIA – A trio of Northwest Rangers will continue their baseball careers together, as pitcher Jim Tom Copeland, catcher Cody Carson and outfielder Walt McCullough have all signed national letters of intent to play for head coach Hill Denson at Belhaven University for the 2014-15 seasons.

Copeland, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound RHP from Batesville, appeared in 14 games as a freshman and posted an 0-2 record with a team-best 1.83 ERA and three saves. In 15.1 innings of work, Copeland struck out nine against eight walks and held opponents to a .218 batting average.

Carson saw action in 16 games as a freshman behind the plate, earning the start in seven, and posted a .979 fielding percentage in 48 chances. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Independence native hit an even .200 from the plate with a double and two RBIs.

McCullough, who stands at 6-foot-3, 225-pounds, led all freshmen with a .290 batting average and also stayed error free in the outfield in 19 chances. In 26 games played (20 starts), the Water Valley product had five doubles, a home run and 12 RBIs and also scored 11 runs.
