Northwest Places Fourth at Hinds Invitational-MACJC Event #2

RAYMOND – Northwest closed out a second consecutive fourth place finish at the Hinds Invitational March 3-4 at Eagle Ridge Golf Club, carding a two-day score of 628 (313-315) and missing a top three finish by just five strokes. | Final Results

Gulf Coast won the event with a two-day total of 590, beating out Copiah-Lincoln (611) and East Mississippi (623), who finished second and third, respectively.

"We didn't play particularly well this weekend," volunteer assistant Guy Purdy said. "We're hitting the ball well, but just not scoring well. We'll hit a few balls before Monday's opening round at Copiah-Lincoln."

Freshman Jack Byrd was again the low man for Northwest, tying for 11th with a 155 (77-78).

Sam Cooper finished T-16th with a 157, Cameron Thomas and Chad Cupples tied for 20th with a 158 and Dylan Baskins was T-39th with a 167. Justin Feathers rounded out the Ranger scoring with a 182.

Northwest will return to the links on Monday, March 5, traveling to Wesson for the Copiah-Lincoln Invitational. Round one will be played at Brookhaven, while round two will be at Wolf Hollow GC.

"We'll have nice weather and hopefully we'll be ready to play," Purdy said. "There's no reason we shouldn't be in the hunt in each tournament, and at this point we just haven't played to our potential."
