Northwest to Host No. 19 JCJC in Best-of-3 Playoff Series

SENATOBIA – After closing the north division schedule with six consecutive wins, Northwest finished second in the standings and will host the south's No. 3 seed in 19th-ranked Jones County in the opening round of the MACJC State Baseball Playoffs May 3-4 at Ranger Field.

First pitch of Friday's game is set for 6 p.m., with Game 2 to follow at 2 p.m. Saturday. An if necessary Game 3 would be played 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2. All postseason games are 9 innings.

Admission is $5 for adults (ages 13 and up), $3 for children (12 and under) and free for Northwest students, faculty and staff with school ID. JCJC and other CC students are also free with a school ID.

Northwest enters the weekend at 27-14 and has won 15 of its last 20 overall, while JCJC is 28-16.

The two teams played Friday in Ellisville, with the Bobcats winning 2-1 in Game 1 and Northwest rebounding with a 5-3 Game 2 win for a split.

The winner of the four series across the state will head to the four-team, double-elimination MACJC State Tournament at the highest seeded remaining south team May 9-11.
