Tanner Cable Commits to Delta State

SENATOBIA – Rising sophomore right-hander Tanner Cable of Hernando has committed to head coach Mike Kinnison and Delta State University for the 2015 season.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Southaven High School product was drafted in the 26th Round by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft, but chose to return for his sophomore season.

"I know that they have a good winning tradition and program," Cable said. "I know that they will push you to become the best that you can and there's good comradery among the team. I had a good visit and like what I saw over there. I felt real comfortable on campus."

Cable appeared in 14 games as a freshman, earning the start in eight, and went 4-4 with a 4.11 ERA, two complete games and two saves. He logged 47.2 innings, striking out 42 against 20 walks and struck out a career-high nine (twice) against Arkansas Baptist and Holmes.

Cable is the third Ranger to commit to a four-year school as part of the early signing period, joining RHP Matt Ferguson (University of Memphis) and LHP Domenick Carlini (Southeastern Louisiana).
