SENATOBIA – Northwest Mississippi Community College invites students, faculty, staff and the community to "Meet the Rangers" night for men's and women's basketball on Mon., Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at Howard Coliseum.
The Ranger band, Rangerettes and cheerleaders will perform and the players of both basketball teams will be introduced. In addition, fans will have the chance to win several prizes throughout the night.
With both teams advancing to the state and region tournaments a year ago, the anticipation for this season is even greater than last season. The Lady Rangers finished 18-7 and won the north division, while the Ranger men closed the year 19-8 and finished runner-up in the Region 23 Tournament.
The women's team returns just five players from last year's roster, and only one starter, and welcomes nine new faces to the team including a pair of transfers from Southwest and Itawamba CC.
Don Edwards returns for a 27th season as the head coach and is chasing the 400-win milestone with a career mark of 389-278.
The men's team provides similar youth and only returns three faces from a year ago.
Bubba Skelton enters his ninth season in charge in Senatobia and has amassed a 218-63 record.
Northwest will tipoff the 2013-14 season at home on Nov. 4 against Southwest Mississippi at 5 and 7 p.m.
