Lady Rangers Close Out Road Slate with 2-0 Loss at Itawamba

FULTON – In their final road contest of the season on Friday, the Northwest Lady Rangers fell a goal behind in the opening four minutes and could never get back on track in a 2-0 loss to Itawamba.

Itawamba improved to 7-6-1 overall and 6-2 in the north while Northwest dropped to 4-8 overall and 1-6 in north division play.

Lindsey Burton's unassisted goal just 3:28 into the game turned out to be the game-winner, despite the game remaining 1-0 into the half.

Ashley Malone would cap the scoring in the 64th minute off an assist from Jamie Wallace.

Northwest was held to just two shots on the day with Shaina Cruse stopping the only one she saw on net to preserve the shutout.

The Lady Rangers will look to snap a season-long four-game losing streak on Tuesday at home against East Central in the season finale. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
