Howard Coliseum

Completed in 1974, Howard Coliseum is a multipurpose facility which can seat approximately 2,500 spectators.

Home of the Northwest basketball and volleyball programs, the coliseum also houses athletic department offices, the Northwest Sports Hall of Fame, dressing rooms, training room and equipment room.

A new $200,000 gym floor was installed in the summer of 2011 and both the home and visitor locker rooms on each end of the coliseum were completely renovated prior to tip-off of the 2012-13 season. The floor was redone prior to the 2020-21 season, adding volleyball markings and an updated midcourt logo.

One of the premier basketball facilities among  two-year schools in the state of Mississippi, Howard Coliseum was the site of the NJCAA Women's National Championship Basketball Tournament from 1983-88.

The north lobby of Howard Coliseum houses several trophy cases which represent the numerous championships that our athletic teams have won.

As part of the 1979 Homecoming celebration, the coliseum was dedicated to Willie Abbay Howard, a member of the college’s Board of Trustees from 1948-1977.

The Sports Hall of Fame room on the west side of Howard Coliseum is where athletic greats from the past are honored. The Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1990 with authorization by the Northwest Board of Trustees and currently has over 70 members.

Pets, tobacco, weapons and firearms are not allowed at the facility or anywhere else on the Senatobia campus.
